Brunch at She Restaurant Governors Bay

Mid-winter and a small group of 9 Retreads members gathered for brunch at She Chocolat restaurant

Governors Bay. Late in the week we discovered that the Godley House restaurant at Diamond Harbour, our

advertised venue for this function, didn’t cater for breakfasts/brunches and could only offer café fare for lunch.

A nice atmosphere at She Chocolat and not jam packed on a mid-winter Sunday as is often the case at the

height of summer.

Perhaps we should add this to the list of preferred venues, along with Hinton’s in Wairakei Road and 3 Cows

Bar and Restaurant in Kaiapoi?

Roast dinner at Harringtons’ Belfast

From a poor response it became clear that Retread members may not particularly favour quiz nights … As was

the case last year we were forced to cancel this part of the night out. The Harringtons’ mid-winter three

courses set menu ‘special’ for $12 can be recommended however, and was enjoyed by 5 Retreads members

and 3 friends. The place was buzzing – packed out for the first night of the special menu we suspect.

As is always the case we enjoyed each others’ company and should definitely book a table for next year.

Mike, Carole and Simon Lester’s’ film stars:

Three of us budding film stars turned out to join South Pacific Motorcycle Tours & Rentals video filming session

on Wednesday 28 July. Graham and Jo Lavender were the real stars and will be featured as the overseas

guests of South pacific Motorcycle Tours on their ‘hired’ all bells and whistles BMW; my stead for the day

unfortunately decided to throw a wobbly at the last minute and refused to start so a Suzuki joined the ‘tour’

group with three BMW’s, a Harley and a Triumph. Clear blue skies prevailed and the film crew of two shot

enough film to be able to produce a publicity clip to complete their assignment.

We all enjoyed our day out in the sun and I am sure that pictures and perhaps a copy of the final film clip will be

available shortly to share with other members of the club.

prefer (travelling by car?) may wish to make their own way out to Terrace Downs. Lunch is booked for 12

noon. Meals will served and will cost about $20.
