Leader Valley ride Sunday 2 may 2010  ‘Stop and regroup at Culverden’ was indicated in the publicity for the ride. The photo shows some of the 15 riders and handful of pillion passengers gathering at Culverden en-route to Cheviot for lunch.  Rendezvous was at ‘The Peg’ at the early hour of 9:30am on a combined ride with our friends from the BMW Motorcycle Club.  Actually, it was difficult to find many bikes on this run that weren’t BMW’s!  If you look at the photo carefully though you will pick up the Honda VFR of Graeme and Raylene Wright.  The others? - well…

The day was a cool 12 to 15 degrees indicating that we really were in the last month of autumn – better in the sun than in the shade for the run in reverse through the Leader Valley.  This was a new experience for many of us as on previous occasions we have travelled the route east to west and stopped off at Rotherham for lunch.

The late summer meant that we did not experience the full effect of the autumn leaves and we of course missed the view that motorists gain when travelling down into the valley from the east.   Lunch at the Twin Rivers in Cheviot was very convivial.  The fare on offer was as extensive as always – a great place to meet and eat.  If you were with us on this ride I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did.  (BN)

Note: During the months of June and July the only ‘ride’ organised so far is the Brass Monkey.  However, we have organised a number of winter functions that can either be driven to or ridden to depending on your choice and the weather at the time.
